Using a photoresistor

Aim

The goal of this activity is to demonstrate the integration of a photoresistor with Arduino and display the measurements

Materials Required

1. Arduino UNO R3 – 1
2. USB Cable – 1
3. Breadboard – 1
4. Photoresistor – 1
5. LCD1602 Display – 1
6. I2C Display Module – 1
7. 10kΩ Resistor – 1
8. Several Jumper Wires

Wiring Diagram

Desired Outcome

A photoresistor can detect the presence of light in its path. Use a torch light (torch on your smartphone) and direct it on to the surface of the photoresistor. You will notice that the value on the display, which is a measure of intensity of light, increases with increased intensity of light and decreases with decreased intensity of light.
